An invoice tells your customer what they owe, for what, and by when. Fill in this free invoice template right on the page, add your logo, tax and discounts, and download a clean, print-ready PDF in seconds.

Type straight onto the page. What you see is exactly what the PDF will look like.

How to make an invoice

  1. Add your business details and logo, then who you’re billing.
  2. Set the invoice number, date, due date and payment terms.
  3. List each product or service with quantity and rate.
  4. Add tax, discount or shipping, and any amount already paid.
  5. Switch to Preview, then download the PDF or print.

What to include on an invoice

  • Your business name, address and contact details (and tax or VAT number if you have one)
  • Your customer’s name and billing address
  • A unique invoice number and the invoice date
  • A due date or payment terms, such as Net 30
  • Each product or service with quantity, rate and line total
  • Subtotal, discount, tax, shipping and the total or balance due
  • How to pay you — bank details or a payment link — in the notes

When to send an invoice

Send an invoice once you’ve delivered the work or goods and want to be paid. If the price isn’t agreed yet, send a quote or estimate first; if the customer needs a bill before you ship, use a proforma invoice. After you’re paid, confirm it with a receipt. Tax rules differ by country, so check which details your tax authority requires.
