Sales Order Generator

Confirm a customer’s order before you fulfil it.

A sales order confirms what a customer ordered, the agreed prices and when it will ship. Create one with the customer, ship-to address, their PO number and status, record any deposit, and download it as a PDF.

Confirm exactly what the customer ordered, when it ships and what’s still to pay — before you pick, pack or invoice.

How to make a sales order

  1. Add your business and the customer; add a ship-to address if it’s different.
  2. Enter the order date, the customer’s PO number and the expected ship date.
  3. Set the order status.
  4. List the products with quantity and price, plus tax, discount or shipping.
  5. Record any deposit received; the balance due is calculated for you.

What to include on a sales order

  • A sales order number and date
  • The customer and ship-to address
  • The customer’s PO number, if they sent one
  • Items, quantities and agreed prices
  • Planned ship date and order status
  • Tax, total, any deposit received and the balance due

Sales order or invoice?

A sales order is sent before delivery to confirm the order; an invoice is sent to request payment. Many businesses create the sales order when a purchase order arrives, ship with a packing slip, then invoice.
